Although the year started with the obvious low of Lockdown 3.0 and the unexpected surprise of a break in! It also brought the gratitude of raising £1,114 for Refuge as we held a 4th birthday fundraiser in lieu of us not being able to sink a few celebratory pints together and the absolute honour of being featured in Waitrose Magazine as 1 of the 5 “inspiring women making a splash in the drinks industry”!
Here I am looking pretty pleased with myself and unapologetically so my friends! It’s always a real pleasure to represent women in beer and the beer / pub community in general. I’m proud of this industry. Especially as it’s taken quite some battering during the pandemic but I also just really enjoy sharing my passion for micropubs and what they stand for. Community, friendships and magical moments of human connection!
Off the back of this feature which obviously warranted a trip to Waitrose, West Ealing to pick up 2 copies of the magazine alongside essentials like beer, wine, ginger shots and fancy granola! I popped up an impromptu Waitrose inspired Beer & Cheese Pairing. Well a beer and food pairing. Kind of. You’ll see what I mean!
Looking forward to getting back to our usual monthly beer and cheese pairings soon. I’m also going to keep putting together some delicious general beer pairings seeing as you enjoyed the pie and stout winter ones so much!
Of course it goes without saying that I cannot wait to be back in the pub again welcoming the Hanwell Massive in once again for some much needed, soul soothing chats over a drink or two!
